Key ID Markers In Snakes Can Be Deceptive

The Eastern Brown Snake is commonly encountered throughout the Brisbane region in suburban yards and businesses. Some of the key markers to identify snakes can be deceptive, so we always recommend keeping a safe distance from all snakes you encounter, and keeping pets and children away until a snake catcher is able to attend.

This species is known to be extremely variable in colour and pattern. The close up on the left could almost be seen as the scales of a Keelback Snake, a non venomous species. Many snakes found through the South-East Queensland region are often confused for one another.

We as snake catchers know what to look for in snake identification: the shape of the eye and head, body, scales, movement and behaviour. We make sure to tick several boxes to be certain enough to correctly identify a snake.
