Powerful monitor photographed near a road

Here the monitor’s powerful body is clear. They are very efficient climbers and can tear carrion apart with ease. This individual was photographed near a road in Springfield Lakes by our catcher Jaedon.

These lizards have sharp claws and teeth and strong jaws, as well as the ability to whip their tail at perceived threats. While they can defend themselves, they will usually trying to run away into undergrowth or straight up a tree. This species is known to be an excellent climber, with large adults even able to quickly scale tall trees with ease.
