This Eastern Blue Tongued Skink was mistaken for a snake at a business in Mount Gravatt
This skink species is sometimes mistaken for snakes in gardens and businesses around the Brisbane region, especially when a client only catches a glimpse of a slender reptile slithering through grass or behind a bin for instance. Though non venomous, they can deliver a powerful bite when trying to defend themselves! They have strong jaws in order to capture and crush food like snails in their shells and other small animals.
